There is a secret for beautiful black and white photos, sometimes it is not “literally” B & W. Many photos that appear to be in grayscale actually use warmer or cooler tones (depending on the desired effect) and that makes all the difference. See the example below:
There are four simple steps of changing your lovely photos:
1. If you want to transform your photos to the standard Black and White use this techniques explained in our previous post .
2. Select all layers by pressing Ctrl + Shift + E.
3. Go to Image> Mode> Grayscale
4. Go to Image> Mode> Duotone (even if you want to do a tri or quad)
Duotone Options Panel
In the Duotone options panel you will select how you want to get your Duotone and other tones. First select the one that you prefer either (duo, tri, quad), then select the colors and voila!
Photoshop already gives many preset color combinations just select one. In reality it is very interesting to use the standards already set and then edit specific tones that you want to change.
Select: Adobe / Adobe Photoshop / Presets / Duotones / (choose either duo, tri or quad)
There you will find several preset patterns, select one that you prefer and you can edit it later.
Go to Image> Mode> RGB to edit your photo normally (applying filters, making adjustments …). Try new colors, patterns and different photos and see how beautiful they can be.
